One of the Best Programming Languages
The programming language Python enjoys ever increasing popularity. Compared to other popular programming languages such as C++ or Java it provides several advantages, which lead to higher productivity. Those include:
- considerably shorter programs
- very good code readability because of consistent code formatting
- pure Python programs run without or very little changes on all common operating systems
- higher level data structures such as lists and dictionaries are built into the language, therefore they are always available like strings or integers, enabling very efficient data manipulation
- Python is very dynamic making very simple solutions possible that would require considerable effort in other languages
We decided to choose Python for our courses, because it is an excellent language for learning programming and at the same time it is a very effective and elegant language for advanced programmers as well.
From our experience Python is the optimal language for many applications. It can be easily extended with other languages such as C or even FORTRAN, broadening the range of its application to nearly all fields of programming.
Another important reason is that Python programming is by many users of the language considered fun. This connotation is rather rare in other languages. We believe work that is fun leads to better results.
The judgment of nearly all that use Python for a while is unanimous: "Programs in Python are better because considerably fewer lines of code are needed than in other popular languages to get the same result. Furthermore, programs are much better readable even after some time."
